![]() Have faith that your doctors looked closely at the tests and made sure there was nothing they missed as well. Not trying to exacerbate your symptoms but that's what they told me, and if your pain went away after your tests but came back, that's a surefire sign it's your brain playing a mean trick on you. The pain stays no matter what you do, and it wouldn't go away. I have also discussed my fears with my doctor and they told me that if I truly had a heart condition, not only would they catch it in their tests for sure, they also said the pain would not come and go. Eventually your subconscious brain will realize "oh shit, our heart rate is elevated and we're fine, so it must be a false alarm" and the pain will subside. If it is, do a little more exercise, get your heart rate up again while saying the phrase over again. When I did this, I would get my heart rate up while repeatedly telling myself "my heart is strong, my heart is healthy, and if I make it through this exercise without dropping dead I will stop worrying about it." And once you do that, stay standing and let your heart rate subside. Usually when you have that pain, it's because of your muscles contracting due to your brain being so focused on it and because your muscles contract in such a small area, it causes some pain that can get amplified due to your nerves being on high alert from all the stress hormones being released in your body. What helped me calm down was honestly light exercise or manual labor or really anything that can get your heart rate up. Specifically I've had palpitations and a pinching or a dull pain in my sternum or on the left side of my chest. Hey friend, I've actually been dealing with a lot of anxiety over the past few months regarding my chest and heart. ![]() Hope this helps and I’d love to hear any progress you make! HA is such a bitch and so fucking hard to overcome, but everyone can do it with dedication and support. Once you find out what’s going on you can treat it and feel at peace that your heart is okay. But not with the mindset and wanting reassurance for the pain, rather with the mindset of finding out the cause of pain in the first place. Long story short, figure out the true cause of the pain. ![]() ![]() After multiple times of roughing out the pain and convincing my brain of the real cause of my pain, I can say I have beat my HA by about 97% (there’s still a small doubt in my mind but I always overcome it.) Eventually I started to resist going and telling myself that my hernia was causing me the pain and not my heart. After learning that, I was sooo relieved! But the chest pain would still give me anxiety thinking “what if it’s actually my heart this time and not my hernia?” So I still kept going to the ER. GI found out that I had a r/hiatalhernia (which mimics the pain of heart attacks). Cardio said my heart was perfectly normal. I was confused and started seeing a cardiologist and gi. Fast forward 6 months and I had been to the ER well over a dozen times and each time the same result: normal. I went to the ER with chest pains and the did blood work and ekg and all that. I had never been so anxious before in my life when I started experiencing chest pains for the first time. Holy shit did chest pain give me a whole new meaning of anxiety.
